Litters bred in a manner consistent with these guidelines are eligible for CDR Verified registration status  in the Companion Dog Registry.

 

.All breeding dogs should be tested for CDDY/IVDD prior to breeding

 

Breedings that produce affected puppies should be part of a defined strategy to eliminate CDDY/IVDD over time by selecting future breeding prospects with lower risk. 

 

Litters should not be produced in which all puppies are homozygous for  (carry two copies of) CDDY.

 

Puppy buyers should be provided with educational materials about CDDY and be encouraged to share  information with their veterinarian.
